In Social Studies this year, students will study the state of North Carolina and its place in the nation. We will cover the major events of NC and American history. Our major areas of study will include:
NC Geography Colonialism American Revolution Constitution and American Government Antebellum Period Civil War and Reconstruction Industrial Revolution Early 20th Century Great Depression WWII Cold War Civil Rights Movement Modern America Citizenship The Colonization Game is an interdisciplinary activity based on primary source documents related to the colonization of America. The game is played in small groups by students who have elected to participate in this enrichment during Spartan Time twice a week.The student teams are competing in challenges related to the process of colonization, and face a new challenge each week.

Social Studies Students are graded as follows:
Formative Assessments: 0% Summative Assessments: 100% = Skills: 25%, Minor - 35%, Major - 40% Grades will be posted online. Please use your individual log-in to access your grades. Powerschool portal opens August 15. As we move through the year, announcements will be made in class when new grades are posted/updated.
